Putting Something Back

WAITS and womens commission staff Labour conference

Volunteers will work mainly with women from low income and disadvantaged groups who come from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.

WAITS is keen to develop volunteering opportunities around the specific interests of each individual however there is always a need for volunteers to assist with the following areas of work:-

Community Leadership

Helping to research the need for new and emerging women’s groups and establishing new self-help groups and local projects or working with existing ones.

This will include building working relationships and partnerships with organisations and agencies.

Domestic Violence  Volunteer / Befriender

Helping to provide a befriending service to victims and survivors of domestic violence

Be involved in campaign work around domestic violence issues and the safety of women and children

General Volunteering/Administrative duties

  • Assisting with the administration of WAITS work
  • Designing and helping to distribute WAITS publicity materials
  • Carrying out and documenting research.
