Volunteering
Volunteers recruited at WAITS help in the smooth running of the charity. We recruit volunteer befrienders and counsellors to support women emotionally and psychologically.
Our Volunteers are kind and generous people who commit their time and skills to tackling domestic abuse and its associated impacts.
Our volunteers are our trustees, befrienders, WAITS Ambassadors, social media officers and many more, and we are appreciative of all their hard work and dedication.
Work Experience
As we empower our clients to achieve their goals, we find suitable and rewarding works experience placements to inspire our clients to learn, grow and be a part of their community, so that they can become economically independent.
Influencing
We support women to build their understanding of the systems and policies that affect their lives, including housing, domestic abuse, and public services.
Through this, women develop the confidence and skills to take part in discussions, forums, and decision-making spaces. Our Community Organising work creates opportunities for women with lived experience to come together, share their experiences, and influence change collectively.
This includes initiatives such as the
SEEKERS Board, where women lead conversations, challenge systems, and help shape better responses to domestic abuse.
Workshops & Courses
Clients attend weekly therapeutic workshops. Workshops are aimed at developing skills and reducing social isolation.
The clients engage with facilitators who teach about managing money, self-care, cooking, housing, and wellbeing.
Donations
We are appreciative of all the donations that we receive at WAITS which help our clients and their families.
We receive gifts, clothes, shoes, and toiletries which help our women who have had to flee domestic abuse.
